SAN FRANCISCO READINGS AND NEWS concludes “valleylist” is for ”valleylist” people. that’s the decision from organic. we just called a stop to putting the other people in business.

macworld again? this year it’s “rock the new era

“one of the most interesting things will be the mobile application showcase event highlight…where attendees can try out iphone apps and meet the developers before they buy.” according to paul kent 02.09.2009 examiner.

steve jobs is a no show with apple not participating . the apple ipad launche took place in san francisco weeks earlier [01.27.2009].

guy kawasaki kicks off the event with ”revolution from the rest of us” followed by leo laporte’s macworld live!

macworld’s ipad special event is of little interest. between now and march roll out apple will be making a lot of changes to their new breakthrough product. the entire conference and expo is online at macworld macworld 2010 videos  twitter messages [@Macworld] and macworld ning.

macworld still likes the iphone.

ipad is the big news. first predicted by “valleylist” the next big thing will be a computer that works like a big iphone or ipod ["valleylist" - - new products]. to really appreciate the new apple ipad you need to read the specifications and understand that the “valleylist” official rating of “ok” covers a lot of ground.

the ipad looks great and has all the apps you’d ever need. the new computer of the future goes way out to accommodate lots of “reader” and multi-media type applications. most importantly it includes an optional external keyboard so that internet email enthusiasts can log on and type away. bad news. it falls short of being a real standard size multi-media device. it should be designed specifically to accommodate newspapers like the new york times or weeklies like interview magazine. as the publishing industry adapts to standard sizes for their print products there is a need for standardized “readers” or “itablet” type computers for the hundreds of thousands of print publications that need to look really good. apple did it again however. just like the iphone it’ll be years before anybody else catches up.

it’s in the specifications really - – height 9.56 inches [93 mm] width 7.50 inches [190mm].

go buy the ipad for less than $500 and find out what the future is.

i was busy with a list of san francisco hair salons until i stopped by moscone center and got invited for a macworld tour. the big question for all stylists – - isn’t michael jackson the top selling artist of all time? “valleylist” claims it’s the beatles. next issue  “valleylist” v101 r.1 a week from Friday.

san francisco is a big push with public readings and cultural influence peddling. i’m doing open mic readings of “the magical mystery tour“ at a variety of venues. in the meantime i found the “yin and yang” heads and art authorities wrapped up the attribution problem. then i went to a museum.

open mic readings of “the magical mystery tour” while in san francisco so far include

hotel utah mon 01.25.10

brainwash tues 02.022.10

bazaar cafe thu 02.04.10

cafe international fri 02.05.10

contact any agency or publication for ways on getting involved in “the magical mystery tour“.

the next wave of readings is “the reign of terror reading list” scheduled for undisclosed locations everywhere in san francisco . look for scheduling information from valleylist twitter.

those who know that “valleylist” was derived from years of experience covering art and technology for art com magazine will appreciate the heads story.

the sculpture “yin and yang” created by robert arneson [image from yahoo! image search] were of unknown attribution for many years. thanks to the sfmoma for their reseach and findings to finalize the problem.

“the two heads are part of arneson’s “egghead” series which depicts intellectuals in various humours postures. arenson is the contoversial sculptor commissioned to create a memorial to san francisco mayor george moscone who was assasinated along with supervisor harvey milk at city hall.”

according to the sfgate article describing the sculpture stroll.

some people think attribution of “yin and yang” were finally verified in the new york times article “taking a populist stance obama takes on banks“.

mayor gavin newsom and city council decided to put a new head sculpture in the garden in front of city hall. magical mystery tour “head” headed for sf civic center [press & media : public art colossal sculpture by zhang huan]. it’s a buddha-esque head with six shiva like arms around 15 feet tall – - giant buddha may be displayed in civic center.

the “valleylist” magical mystery tour of san francisco continues with the 75 years of looking forward sfmoma’s birthday bash. the special event included a free weekend special andy warhol exhibits and a bill fontana sound sculpture installation. it was a rare moment to take in the top level sfmoma modern art collection and asee the films “Superstar the life and times of andy warhol” and “marcel duchamp iconoclast“.

my work at “artcom” [communication arts] a publication of la mamelle was also included in the museum’s massive retrospective of bay area modern art.

for many of us it’s cultural imperialism. “valleylist” and the new york times continue “the magical mystery tour

the magical mystery tour – - “president bill clinton”

the magical mystery tour – - “il mondo della luna”

the magical mystery tour – - “devo”

the magical mystery tour – - “devo 3d”

this week’s tour concludes with “the story of india” at the san francisco main library. it’s a video presentation starting with pre-buddha india and concluding with post-british independence won by gandhi leading to the partition of the mainly hindu indian state and from muslim pakistan.

senator bill frist will tell you that the apple ipad is a great new product. it’ll take years for everybody to catch up.

problem is apple didn’t get it right.

yet.
