JUST A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME talking to san jose city hall. sorry to interrupt the daily squabble. is it the “hood” vs. the police department again? sam liccardo’s big complaint “why are we always fighting with the police”? is it rob davis or rob hunt running the sjpd to ruin lately? city government should lead. fiddle while rome burns says the all too unoriginal mayor chuck reed. or blame my wife please. give it all to the bad people. conclusion. san jose does not want it.

lead yourselves.

san jose leadership defaults [like the city itself] to the big high tech companies. it’s jerry yang steve jobs and lately real politicians like meg whitman and carly fiorina that actually lead the pack and inspire people. who wants to be like chuck reed? san jose city hall will not listen to anybody anytime about anything. was it barbara or chuck reed who closed their latest anti-campaign speech with “i’m certain i’m right”.

san jose will never make the cut as high tech capital. the new city hall is as far as they got. while i lived there i saw the entrepreneur center turned over to the “hood” for fun and games. world class companies afraid of the city’s “hood” politics locate anywhere but san jose.

here’s a new take – - silicon valley needs a high tech mayor.

chuck reed remains an idiot. at war with everybody. going nowhere fast. i’m the one! every few weeks there’s an important politician showing up to bail san jose out of trouble. from jerry brown to steve poizner to al gore to governor arnold schwarzenegger to defense chief robert gates to obama’s organizing for america team.

don’t hand over the tools of high office to the infidels unless you plan to become the chief infidel.

it’s the big high tech companies that make san jose an important part of silicon valley. otherwise it resembles southwest new mexico. top employers are santa clara county [15,360 employees] city of san jose [6,990] san jose state university [3,100] san jose schools [2,690] kaiser permanente [2,120]. new mexico on a bad day.

world class high tech giants like intel [andy grove] oracle [larry ellison] apple [steve jobs] hewlett packard [bill hewitt] google [sergey brin larry page] facebook [mark zuckerberg] and yahoo [jerry yang david filo] locate elsewhere in silicon valley. for a while the problem was obvious. finally san jose can’t pull it off.

i’m more successful with an open mic reading at modern times bookstore again this fri 03.26.2010 7:30pm than talking to san jose city hall. go on tour like the mercury news’ sal pizarro or tomtomorrow or homeland security’s tom ridge or even the beatles. these days the magical mystery tour is a diaspora of the old guard. it’s the “gang” that came to prominence on a “hate crime” political platform. i think it came from san jose.

just a total waste of time trying to get san jose involved in a high tech business agenda. follow fred lau and the “gang” around and fight with everybody. no reason. california assembly speak karen bass is upset that homeless and government assistance help now goes to the rehab centers instead of solving san francisco homeless problems. result is sf city employees need to learn to live on 5% of their pre-jihad spending levels. that’s 95% out the window.

government and politics aside where’s the technology leadership? silicon valley greats like andy grove larry ellison steve case steve jobs jerry yang mark andreesen or jim clark know how to get things done. the problems are enormous. the scope world wide. millions of constituents. product gets done every day.

the obvious conclusion - - a high tech mayor for silicon valley.

marketing takes a lot of effort. finding customers. engaging them. converting them over. keeping them involved. entertain customers so they fall for the company as well. take everybody to england next month for a new magical mystery publicity tour. product enhancements like the wordpress reader impress customers and keep the product new. follow twitter and keep celebrities involved. make the customer feel important. keep everybody entertained. help customers sell their “valleylist” compatible products like readers computers cellphones and internet services. create a friendly yet impossible avatar to represent your product. get famous people and politicians to talk your product up in public. stay low tech enough to be accessible to most people most of the time.

“he’s so far ahead of everybody else the brilliance of his strategy will only be apparent in retrospect”. says tomtomorrow. quoted again?

salon magazine started in san francisco around 1995 salon is among the first internet only publications. 5.8 million individual visitors a month leaves salon off the top 10 internet services list. however the internet only publication keeps the san francisco high tech flag flying high.

while waiting for the water tourture process to end i keep busy like everybody else indexing san francisco hair salons. out with the old school. it’s syndication mania. howard stern let his hair grow long. all that’s missing is the paul mccartney haircut.

politically speaking san francisco is still waiting for the legal case.

final result as the legal case of the century headed to court. fbi director robert mueller bounced everybody out. fear that the “same people” would be in charge of the case ruined everything. the “same people” con halted everybody. unfortunately law enforcement is keeping the game going to help pay the bills. pathetic. for real action try the truely politically active landmark bookstore citylights which actually did launch the beat generation of writers and poetsthose with political aspirations are better off going rogue with governor sarah palin and selling out all across the u.s.a. citylights and the beat generation changed the world forever. unlike special agent mueller’s  “hood” project. already ancient history.

final conclusion from the “gang of 8″ and their “gang” is “someday it’ll work”. referring to their infamous endless project. end result. they’re just a group of people in search of meaningful work. famous person erik prince agrees the infamous fireman project version looks good. it’s the project and not the insane person in charge. it finally makes sense. yet it’s the infamous diaspora anyway.

whether it’s politics or technology the point is lead or get out of the way.
