READING THE REIGN OF TERROR READING LIST in public at night clubs and bookstores is a successful “valleylist” publicity stunt. a great way to meet new people. these days however it’s publish on every device. for example read “the reign of terror reading list” on a sony reader. a few days of grinding away at the new publishing platform and i was out of enthusiasm. only amazon is easy. i got as far as publishing the entire “valleylist” syndication version on the amazon kindle reader. at the end of the day i found myself at a live citylights bookstore reading. the audience waited for the first introduction.

it’s a complicated path for publishers eager to get their content onto reader devices.

apple is the place to start. thousands lined up for the ipad launch 04.03.2010 at the union square apple computer store. lines around the block. i faked a place in line and got a free krispy kreme donut. publishers trying to get content onto the new ipad are directed to apple itunes. apple invites content providers to join then links to an ibookstore online application. ”please provide the application code generated and provided to you by your ibookstore representative”. what code? apple computer store people never heard of the application code. the ibookstore with hundreds of thousands of titles uses the new standard the epub format. the entire bookstore process is based on the ibooks e-reader app. it’s search then find then open the book of your choice then read your ibook on your ipad.

“valleylist” shows up as a different ipad application - – the wordpress application for the iphone ipod and ipad. however that’s not as exciting as really completing the content provider process. amazon is the only real “valleylist” reader success so far. that’s as a blog instead of a book or weekly publication.

sony the first to market a specialized reader device is for big time book publishers. including google books sony’s bookstore serves up over a million titles. yet for publishers it’s limited to ebooks and does not include new media. amazon kindle has the biggest subscriber base. primarily ebooks amazon has gone to great lengths to include publishers of all kinds. after trying publishing on kindle ”valleylist” went with kindle publishing for blogs to achieve ereader successbarnes and nobles nook is like the amazon kindle only lacking in subscribers. for publishers it’s too complicated. after browsing through the publisher & author guidelines and how to submit content it’s take a break and read a book. borders surprises everybody and does not come up with a trademarked reader of their own. instead they sell the sony reader. internet ebook services abound. google books has a million titles for reading on the internet or downloading. publishers welcome. library ebooks offer free titles from the san francisco public library the world public library association the san francisco county libraries and the library of congress. specialized services like epub are for all kinds of readers. if making money is the thing then catch up with eric ward’s discovery writing and selling ebooks. most publishers need to be everywhere all the time with revenue driven by readership.

long term the winner looks like apple. the real competitor however is amazon with plans to gobble up the video downloading market by acquiring netflix and tivo. that’s content then syndication and hardware plus a built in subscriber base. hard to miss.

on real digital broadcast television ”valleylist” was interviewed by john fowler ktvu oakland friday 03.26.2010. ad agency organic publicity at work. the ”valleylist” interview concludes it’s a difficult time for everybody. a good time to start your own business.
ktvu – - “what to do in a bad economy”
“valleylist” – - start your own business like “valleylist”.
ktvu – - “what does it feel like?”
“valleylist” – - ”too many dead ends. need to be ready to fight every day”.

citylights bookstore also in the news has a project in need of funding “the poets plaza [piazza saint francis]“. the piazza is a pedestrian walk way with weekly readings and literary events. it’s a great idea. the citylights project is planned for the area between cafe trieste and saint francis of assis i church [national shrine]. only $3 million needed. what’s odd is a total lack of conversation on the subject and no money at all showing up.

brainwash monday 04.12.2010 7:30 open mic is the next reading. it’s “the reign of terror reading list” with musical interlude.

phone company news still following me around. therron abbott the former phone company human resources manager was caught yet again following and threatening an employee with the intention of stealing their career. this is after multiple arrests for the same crime. in fact the project people like abbott barnette west and flores don’t plan to stop until they get everything they always wanted. what happened instead was they were all arrested many times over. the diaspora was all they ever needed to get out of serious trouble.

final conclusion is i need to do ”the project” with new people. this according to the real authorities. “valleylist” should continue to emulate howard stern the most syndicated person in media history. “valleylist” needs to reach as many people as possible. still waiting for the fcc to unblock the internet. san francisco hair salons ignore the obvious. it’s a daily search for the perfect “do”. everybody wants “open for business”.

the real authorities like gorgonzola for top bananna anyway.
