OTHER KINDS OF ELECTRONIC PUBLISHING and internet content are worth billions. we’re talking crazy classifieds. violent videogames. miasmatic messaging. aristotelian rating services.
billions. that’s how big the internet is.
it all started with newspaper publishing. obituaries. classifieds. breathtaking advertising. letters to the editor. front page articles so compelling everybody buys the daily news. immediately.
you didn’t forget the newspaper did you?
adler’s big idea was interactive media. he also ended up predicting the home of the future. adler then went on to found senior net. after 10 years adler is back in silicon valley at the institute shepherding a 10 year study on health and aging.
adler’s contribution is as a thinker. a real research mind able to forcast the future. occasionally wrong. very often right.
“what’s the big idea” guy doing these days. predicting the future.

¶question. has the electronic publishing universe reached it’s zenith. is the internet is now doomed to contract just like a big bang after effect.
probably not. there’s a lot of new ideas out there. they just need to be implemented effectively. latest rumor is that the internet doesn’t yet work the way it’s supposed to. big strategic plans are just not coming through. end product is a complete and total waste of time. thx again slackers.
big numbers.
it’s hard to forget social search or the social internet and their immense popularity. add the big new technology platform – - the cell phone [instead of the laptop] – - and you have the opportunity to “relate” outside your normal computing environment. “relate” even outside the internet.
“valleylist” thought it was a fun idea to compare internet social groups and blogs to madonna.
top selling female recording artist with 75 million in album sales and woman with the most #1 sales in the uk madonna reached 200 million in the usa as of end of 2009. this according to the guiness world record people.
other sources estimate madonna world wide sales at almost 400 million and rate madonna as the top selling female artist of all time.
this week “valleylist” likes the new beastie boys album “hot sauce comittee part 2“. try it for free and mp3 every song from the new album at billboard.com. people like the beasties for “fight for the right to party” named by the rock and roll hall of fame as one of the songs that shaped rock and roll. “licensed to ill” the debut album sold over 9 million itself.

conclusion. we want the internet [and the universe] to continue to expand.
probably forever. an endless delight of new starts and stellar phenomenon. some day the internet should reach an end point. for example the last new idea or product. probably not. unlike the real universe the internet is man made. the next new idea is already interesting to a new group of people.
the big bang was really kind of a once in a lifetime experience.
man made phenomenon continue to produce. waiting for the extinction of humankind is a dead end unto itself. how about the end of the good people? the technology-based universe is vital and alive.
that’s why we send laggards back to school.
in the meantime join the millions generating billions in revenue doing “other” things.
the internet big bang was so big the newspaper publishers themselves were obligated to spend a few decades catching up.
almost back on top again.
