DIGITAL MUSIC reached a new zenith with the internet. apple’s inexplicable and confusing “ipod” took the conversation even higher. i don’t want to be in a “pod”. ok “where’s the music” say american consumers. loyal independent shoppers want “digital music”.
digital music only.
along with the ipod came the “pod” and music videos video camera video games a calendar address book and more than 200 add on features. really it should be just digital music and digital music videos. a product just for music fans world wide.
mistakes are a rarity. the latest edition of “valleylist” had a few too many to ignore. did you get your corrected version of v 169 “digital radio satellite radio”? make sure. unedited final drafts were emailed by mistake. it’s a publishing tradition to send a “correction”.
“digital radio satellite radio” was so compelling i almost passed up digital music entirely. almost time for a real summer vacation.
instead “valleylist” will continue look for a solution to the neverending sfpd and phone company legal case. conventional wisdom from sf city hall and law enforcement is “get some rich people to pick you up and do the legal case”.
why not cut to the chase and mega-launch “valleylist” with the help of the rich people.
the problem is getting the phone company gang and their sfpd cronies to stop. therefore a legal action is needed. believe it or not it is yet again a federal matter with the fcc and fema [at the scene of the initial "hit" from the phone company] stopping the bad people. conclusion. it’s a police problem. also a phone company problem. bill long bill widman ted west dave flores and tom harley tried to force me to stay “in” with the phone company people anyway.
yet again i’m not interested. i’d rather be lounge singer like howard stern.
why not just call an angel investor?

according to wikipedia napster is one of the first popular peer-to-peer (“p2p”) file sharing platforms, fomally launched in 1998 napster was so popular fanning was featured on the cover of time magazine. napster free p2p was shut down in 2001 because of illegal sharing of copyrighted material. paid subscription followed and napster ended up a small company in a big business. after napster fanning joined and invested in a number of early-stage technology startup companies.” angel investor fanning ended up with a net worth of $7.5 million.

as usual with pop culture the big hits are not what you’d expect. why not justin beber for top download king. big on the radio is not the same as big on the internet.

analysis. itunes steals the show. next question. microsoft zune fails technological superiority test. napster keeps their share the market and stays small. blame the conservative judicial system.
around this time napster people tried to contact me. messages and then sending people. needed. my legal and judiciary experience with new technology product launches. help with their “good fight”. freedom of music for all.
phone company business and sf fun kept me busy.
napster actually lost. no help for their preposterous claim. “i get all of it including digital royalties” was the claim. federal injunction to stop was game. it took a court of law to solve the problem.
my conclusion years later. artists and record companies get the royalties. there is no free download from the internet without artist and record company involvement.
skip court appearance altogether. make a landmark deal with the record companies. get even richer.
at least “valleylist” electronic publishing is online and now so is movies film and video.

conclusion. apple wins. everybody else is playing catch up. it’s a technology win. the microprocessor inside is the thing. great design. first to market. savy marketing and lots of money. steve jobs immitates ibm and buys the entire market. everybody else. let’s remain zune and itunes compatible.
