EMI a london-based company is in fact only the world’s fourth largest record label. the latest financials describe a growing company at 1.7B british pounds [up 7%] with global share of the music industry approaching 12%. exciting artists and top selling albums are the real products. emi is in fact among the worlds most exciting companies. they own abbey road studios and capital records los angeles. company milestones 2010 include release of the beatles albums digitally remastered. today’s hot artists include the beastie boys katy perry pink floyd coldplay norah jones and the red hot chilli peppers.

emi [12%] ranks just 4th world wide after universal [30%] sony [27%] warner [20%] with all others adding up to only [11%] based on a 2010 nielsen soundscan market share analysis of the record industry. the report summarized by businesswire finds that album sales were down while digital download sales reached a new high.

try emi wikipedia for an encyclopedic version of the emi records story.

“valleylist” thanks kurzweil music systems for inspiring the compendium of electronic music“. synthesizers and digital instruments contributed enormously to the music business as well as to the artistic and creative side of the music industry. additional early electronic successes include erasure daft punk prodigy laurie anderson giorgio moroder duran duran and bjork. leave out pink floyd king crimson and other great sounding hard rock bands that really worked the keyboard side of music like emerson lake and palmer or electric light orchestra.

valleylist” compendium of electronic music on myspace.

then study up with a good new list of electronic music and artists from electronicmusic.com.

apple wants to know “what’s the difference between an electronic music synthesizer and a digital recording studio”?

conceptually the perfect synthesizer product is a kurzweil multi-function synthesizer with a built-in “expresso machine” digital recording studio and inputs for voice and the standard electronic instruments. probably too much in one box.

who wants to put the keyboard player in charge of everything anyway.

the beatles pop music innovators and the top selling music artists of all time are the “valleylist” avatar this week. the “beatles rough guide” claims that the beatles have set an unbreakable record in music history for having all 5 top singles slots and 8 other songs in the top 100 during the same week – - april 4 1964. unbreakable and unmatchable. here they are. 1.twist and shout 2.can’t buy me love 3.she loves you 4.i want to hold your hand 5.please please me. in the top 100 that same week “do you want to know a secret” “from me to you” “thank you girl” “roll over beethoven” “all my loving” “love me do” and “you and can’t do that”.

yesterday” is the most recorded song in music history. 2500 versions on the market. broadcast 7 million times.

the beatles recorded 3 of the top 10 most popular albums of all time. “revolver” “meet the beatles 1965″ and “meet the beatles 1967″. paul mccartney himself owns the #8 slot for top grossing concert tour of all time.

wikipedia also puts the beatles on top. the beatles are the top selling artists of all time. way up there [yet not number 1] you’ll also find elvis presley michael jackson madonna elton john led zepplin queen and abba.

their last public performance was on the roof of abbey road studios january 30 1969.

the beatles last ever concert was august 29 1966 at san francisco’s candlestick park.

analysis. emi traces their history back to the end of the 19th century with the invention of “the gramophone”. the disc-based recording system competed with edison’s cylinder-based recording system.”in 1887, emile berliner a largely self-educated german-born american who had previously developed the microphone for alexander graham bell’s telephone invented his ‘gramophone’ method of recording and reproducing sound using discs a process that revolutionized the way music was heard and experienced”.

the emi group also known as emi music is a multi-national music company headquartered in london united kingdom. it is the fourth-largest record label in the world also a member of the riaa and ifpi. emi group also has a major publishing arm emi music publishing.

2012 elections are right around the corner. the winner? somehow the moderates have whopped the republicans for a change. estimated cost of $6B is a big number. wasn’t it clinton who first turned to the music industry for support and solidarity with public concerts at the capital mall. you could try to buy the next election.
conclusion. emi music surprised me on a boring flight to toronto. i was thinking about phone company audiotext projects. an impecably dressed executive took the seat next to me. the suit was nicer than my own new suit and much more conservative. i think he was wearing a name tag. perhaps somebody who just came from a conference. seemed somewhat approachable.

a very nice guy. no british accent. toronto on business. emi music looking up new artists or trying a few new clubs.

emi music and publishing is credited with being the inventor and later re-enventor of pop music.

who discovered the beatles?

emi.
