HOME AUDIO HOME THEATRE involves listening to and watching the “valleylist” electronic music compendium on high res video and 4 channel audio surround sound. why not the latest home theatre system audio and video? too expensive. world wide  the trend is catching up with stereo. 4 channel surround sound with sub-woofer is almost unheard of outside of the u.s.a.still it’s difficult to replace the existential experience of watching an ordinary television with monaural sound and the standard 525 scan lines. television invented in san francisco is based on the ntsc standard. ”the ntsc selected 525 scan lines as a compromise between rca‘s 441-scan line standard (already being used by rca’s nbc tv network) and philco‘s and dumont‘s desire to increase the number of scan lines to between 605 and 800. the standard recommended a frame rate of 30 frames (images) per second, consisting of two interlaced fields per frame at 262.5 lines per field and 60 fields per second. other standards in the final recommendation were an aspect ratio of 4:3, and frequency modulation (fm) for the sound signal (which was quite new at the time)” says wikipedia.

“valleylist” articles on audio and video include “valleylist” v162 digital video and television “valleylist” v165 digital television “valleylist” v160 digital hollywood and “valleylist” v161 youtube and internet movies.

steven spielberg pioneering film director and movie mogul is the “valleylist” avatar this week. “perhaps among the most important filmmakers of all time” says imdb. spielberg’s success started with jaws. not only a summer blockbuster jaws remains a full fledged time-immemorial success. from jaws to close encounters to e.t. the extraterrestrial and on to war movies like shindler’s list and saving private ryan. speilberg is part of a new group of hollywood moguls that developed a formula for high budget high grossing films that brought in millions. jurasic park [19] indiana jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull  [35] e.t. the extraterrestrial [34] are three of the top 50 grossing films of all time.

these and a few other spielberg films like poltergeist and back to the future men in black and a.i. artificial intelligence remain everybody’s favorites.

“valleylist” recommends that consumers go with home theatre systems which include hi-fi surround sound mutli-channel audio. avoid the duplication of two high-fidelity systems one for audio then one for video. home theatre systems are designed for almost any kind of audio input including your ipod or cd player.

the headlines and products mentioned in this edition of “valleylist” are included in the playlist and videos.

analysis. it’s a great and often expensive experience. especially for those who want the latest video and audio technology. dolby and thx are the leading technologies that helped boost consumer audio with noise reduction and sound quality improvements. from there it was a step up to digital audio from compact audio discs. digital grew up with the consumer marketing of mp3 players and the infamous ipod. audio and video ended up all digital. from plasma displays to super large sony in-home cinema systems digital displays have replaced standard analogue televisions.

digital films and movies on cd or recorded from television on tivo or other digital video recorders [dvrs] and then movies ordered online then displayed on your television. it’s all very convenient. from ordering and displaying movies to using mutli-media apps to route the movies to any digital display device in the home including your ipad or even iphone. what makes it all work is the super great picture on your digital video display. the very ambitious record home movies using digital video cameras. it’s like a digital version of super 8 only the videos are stored on a computer and watched on digital video.
“valleylist” is lining up the digital future. the series of articles on electronic publishing is online. digital “movies film and video“ has a lot of articles that many describe as “gone digital”. electronic and digital music says a lot based on pop culture leading up to a beatles bonus track.

have to read the articles to find out if the digital revolution is yet complete.

conclusion. is everybody doing home theater instead of just music. high fidelity refers to “high-quality reproduction of sound or images. to distinguish it from the poorer quality sound produced by inexpensive audio equipment”. says the wikipedia.cnet recommends the denon avr 1912 audio recieveras the best home audio product around

amazon and others already sell everything through their home theatre department.

the latest speaker technology electrostatic has resulted in high quality super small highly portable speaker systems at super cheap prices. add computer speakers to your desktop set up and enjoy great sound right from the computer. mtv-style music videos and digital audio.

among the musical high points of all time was the ashford and simpson concert “in the round”. ashford and simpson[solid as a rock] live sounds incredible. partially it’s great vocals and unbelievable harmonies that must be pre-recorded. nope. they are live. it’s a few steps up from high fidelity or high quality sound. it’s like people sounding to good to be true.

the ashford and simpson tour [1980's?] stopped in the bay area briefly. the concert sold out almost immediately. this was a year after ashford and simpson launched dianna ross’ solo career with songwriting so impeccably new it earned every top honor.

during the concert which was amazingly enough mostly black people i ran into somebody at the food concession. the food spilled everywhere. embarrassed i apologized and quickly walked away before getting into serous trouble. a few minutes later the spilled food person [actually a young girl and her boyfriend] cornered me and insisted i pay for the food. i thought i was going to get hurt. instead the couple turned friendly after a few minutes of conversation and said “ok how about a dollar to buy new food”. i gave them two.
