NEW HARDWARE is the happening thing these days. consumers have made an enormous investment in every kind of television, computer, music, or telephone device that people could need. the ultimate new hardware device should include a multi-use touchscreen 8 1/2″ x 11″ size with slide-out keyboard that people could use for everything. throw a few speakers on there and it’s like a big ipod or iphone for any kind of business or entertainment application. all wireless of course. dvds, internet, broadband, and wireless services provide the content for the hi-def high resolution display. power supply uses a battery or wall socket current. what’s missing is the part of the package where consumers and business people get to develop and send content. there are lots companies and people who like using the point-to-point network of the 21st century [like the phone company] to provide content. look at the success of email for example.

the new hardware of the future is all digital and conducive to very creative new products developed at any point along the network.

try looking up hardware on facebook and you get weird stuff like Hardware music, HARDWARE italian fan club, Hardware a rock group, Hardware the movie starring Dylan McDermott.

specialized publications that tell the hardware story these days include pcworld  cnet infoworld maximumpc. do your own research and it’s most likely the real scoop as opposed to somebody else’s opinion. i took a day at valleyfair mall and steered clear of the food court this time. first stop was best buy at santana row and although the schmidt chocolate people were still the big attraction i got as far as best buy anyway.

1. “television is the highly charged focus of new hardware for the average consumer” according to the people who work at best buy santana row. best buy is featuring the Panasonic – VIERA 50″ Class 720p 600Hz Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV. it looks great and has all the features needed for the june Digital TV Transition to hi-def. “cell phones are still light years away from catching up with the apple iphone. most interesting are a few odds and ends. for example the flip video ultra series camcorder for recording video and then plugging it right into the video display port. VUDU – wireless kit for VUDU internet movie players for displaying movies right from your internet connection. i also liked the low cost asus laptop with intel® centrino® processor for their very advanced hardware.

2. server technology streaming video and audio content to all kinds of consumer devices in the home are very popular. windows home server or hp mediasmart server or hp servers – CNET reviews can fill you in with the needed information as well as tell which products to buy to get started. the idea is that all the electronics in your home are wired so that it’s possible for example to get cable television from your cell phone display or patch the internet to your hi def high res plasma display screen. with everybody needing at least one of each of the most important home electronics hardware devices for themselves the new server technology for consumers is very helpful. the additional next level up server for the home is the high end small business server that not only manages the home environment it also manages the outside connections to the internet and services that supply information and entertainment to the home.

3. “the ipod shuffle mini 1,000 songs with voice is the latest hardware” say the folks at the apple store at the valleyfair mall. “the apple  iphone remains cutting edge hardware” with the focus changing from hardware and bandwidth as apple shows off updated iphone software featured in the mercury news and Scott Harris‘ article  ”iphone becomes facebook’s friend” . ”there is also a new mac mini at $546 as well as a new macbook and a new apple keyboard“.

4. know the most impressive new hardware from sony? “it’s the sony psp 3 at around $200 for the bundled version” says the sales person at the sonystyle store. what impresses most people is the super high resolution display and the fact that the psp 3 also has wi-fi access to the internet. the sonystyle store window display features the ulta portable “p series” starting at around $899 with “the world’s lightest 8″ notebook. 8″ LED backlit 1600 x 768 display, 1.4 lbs. ” all the way as far up as the high end version at 128 gigabytes of solid state drive.

conclusion

if you’re not looking for the ultimate pc with the ram and disk drive at a new high then you are probably really in the market for new hardware like everybody else. go out and find your dream machine at 46 gb of ram and 900 gb hard disk. that’s pretty impressive if you include the great nvidia graphics card and a few other hardware treats to make the machine irresistible.

otherwise new hardware looks a lot like a big ipod or iphone. a big improvement would be a standard 8 ½” x 11″ size a feature people really want. like the ipod or iphone the interface is a touch screen or slide out keyboard or mouse. that is the new hardware providing universal access for the 21st century.

MAYOR OF THE WEEK if it’s not in the news or on youtube then it’s “valleylist” with the obvious interest in developing the high tech agenda. let’s try Brandt Grotte bgrotte@… because of his interest in San Mateo‘s high tech potential. it’s a pro-business city and yet there’s lots of room for the silicon valley vision. san mateo needs to change and include more high tech and stray a bit from the small to mid-size businesses which characterize san mateo. there’s the need for a focus on new high tech and a way to take the business vision of san mateo into the 21st century. no concept of a big bad “hood” project in san mateo distracting from the important business. it’s a regional problem and san jose and the rest of silicon valley actually need to fight for regional dollars when new programs come up for approval.

this continues to be important because government agencies like ABAG are still busy handing out funds according to the mercury news

 - - Silicon Valley needs to fight for regional dollars

here in san jose where i continue to be held hostage by the sjpd gang because they want to do weird experimental things it’s a very bad scene. people have yet to find a way to get the reed / davis administration to come around to a pro-business strategy. even though they are busy with the “hood” project it’s probably a good idea for the city to take a new approach with the sjpd and local politicians facing so many serious problems.

the autocrats don’t pay their bills. the problem is there is no real need to continue to milk the cow until everybody is wiped out. it’s a bigger problem and it has ended up a criminal complaint and a labor commission problem. without complaining too much it’s because “someday it’ll be legal” has become a death sentance for lots of business people. there is no “hood” project in the world that is worth what san jose business people have gone through because of an interest in “trying a hood project” .

“valleylist” is going to put it all in the ning ”reign of terror” area because the endless “hood” project problems are distracting from the real high tech focus. the closing comment on this situation is that i really need a real meeting with real people about these “hood” problems because they are way too destructive.

it’s time to put it all in the “ning” project as a ”reign of terror” project and those interested should sign up for new incident reports and new version releases as they happen.

NEWS NEEDS TO BE NEW (sm) the newest news after much bizarre activity is “whatever you do don’t drop people off by themselves” according to the hennesy people. other pressing news is that the bird flu continues to be a big problem and according to state and county authorities needs to be called off in favor of the next new area of contention. having fun in silicon valley.

“valleylist” people are enjoying the widespread coverage in the spanish speaking press. for example Salma Hayek ”listella” in frontera media news is another new fan of “valleylist” and even though it’s el-observador who got there first. it’s great to have lots of spanish language friends in the publishing business.

with “valleylist” already making big changes in the big picture i’ll be taking my suit bag and back pack back east for a week in washington. the objective is to get results for the “valleylist” people and of course sign up as many big sponsors as possible.

beginning v62 “valleylist” will be putting all the sjpd garbage in the ning project. if people need to keep up with the “reign of terror” then they need to subscribe to the ning reign of terror group

in closing on this fun and dangerous topic it should be mentioned that after years and years of fun the sjpd is still not dealing with their problems as they come up. this according to Tom Ammiano. people need the sjpd to solve their problems each and every day. faced with critics, san jose officials invite independent review of police practices according to the san jose mercury news

those interested in the “reign of terror” and the “gang of eight” odd belief system should find the new film “gomorah” very interesting. the mercury news review calls it the “poisoning of italy ” . cinema buffs will find it’s not too different from cult film “new jack city (1991)

the latest anti-award goes to san jose mayor chuck reed who was awarded a large stimulus package to finally convince him to try to do his job. $4 million from the fed to solve homeless problems. he and his gang are still too busy messing around with their “hood” project. there’s another $717,000 from the county for the san jose city hall people to try to deal with reality. san jose is way behind in getting problems solved.

NEW FEATURE EVERY WEEK what are publishing companies like these days. they look like conglomerates with lots of revenue and little synergy because of the need to diversify. publishing companies are famous for having to fight it out all the time and of course win.

here’s a profile of the scripps publishing company.

“The E. W. Scripps Company is a diverse media concern with interests in newspaper publishing, broadcast television stations, and licensing and syndication. Scripps operates daily and community newspapers in 14 markets, and 10 broadcast tv stations. scripps also operates scripps howard news service and united media, which is the worldwide licensing and syndication home of Peanuts, Dilbert and 150 other features and characters.”

revenue in 2007 was $1.1 billion 62% from newspapers 30% from local tv and internet 8%  from united media.

blame e.w. scripps for the new great idea.
