SOLAR POWER needs acceptance and success stories. surprise is santa clara scores #1 in the top 10 solar cities. with bay area city santa clara the nation’s #1 solar city and the entire county also ranking in the top 10 it’s a very different future. solar power works. it’s affordable. homeowners can do it themselves or plug into solar based systems. dependency on foreign oil should be diminishing. problems for the big companies and the federal government are getting solved.
silicon valley has also taken the lead with this new technology. in fact what’s needed is the frastructure for general acceptance of solar as a real power source. nationwide however the numbers suggest that less than 1% use solar power. cost reduction and efficiency and accessibility need to be proven to make the u.s.a. a solar nation.
laurie smith avatar du jour this week is among the reasons the city and county of santa score so highly. it’s the santa clara county sheriff’s office office a mega law enforcement organization that makes it somewhat safe to experiment with new technologies for the home. 586 sworn deputies serving nearly 1.7 million people in santa clara county opened the door to as early as 2007 for silicon valley goes green.
if things work out safely then perhaps there will be a new solar technology to replace old fashioned solar panels someday. if it’s too hostile it’s impossible to get anything new accomplished. that’s among the many reasons that laurie smith is among a “valleylist” favorite famous person from the very first edition.
was the old oil dependent civilization a communist plot to keep the crazy rich people in power. tom tomorrow thinks so. nobody can defeat the a.c.o.r.n! people or their admirers. it’s a world of mad rulers gone berzerk. that old school of thought is a problem. there’s a lot to be said for the oil establishment not wanting to find themselves replaced by new solar companies.
take for example oil rich politicians like the old bush-cheney gang. they insist on keeping the cold war going. or take gitmo for example. could it be the end of gitmo [guantanamo bay prison in cuba] the the bush-cheney guantanamo bay exercise in incarceration and toture? new washington politicians want gitmo closed. the real reason for the resistence? hardened criminals from gitmo have no place left to go. wrong. there’s at least 46 maximum federal facilities where isolation and torture is not permitted. obama himself recommends the supermax federal prison. a less costly and safer way to place the 300 gitmo criminals who remain incarcerated.
some people suggest it’s just a weirdo cheap thrill for the military to experiment on prisoners. “valleylist” thinks it’s yet another example of an old idea that should have lasted a year and 11 years later won’t go away.
apply that example to the oil industry and it’s easier to comprehend al gore and t boone pickens when they insist that people make big changes politically and financially to achieve a green power based economy.
