SILICON VALLEY WEATHER is unpleasant at best often too cold or too warm. Air conditioning saves the day. My unprofessional opinion is Saratoga has the best weather in silicon valley. San Jose has the worst. San Bruno has the best views, little known fact about Daly City is that it runs litter ally from SF Bay on the “bay” side to “breakers” on the Pacific side. Is it earthquake weather yet? Mayor of the week Ann Waltonsmith of Saratoga CA is available at awaltonsmith@… for the latest top silicon valley city weather report.

In San Jose all there is to do in fact is talk about the weather. Let’s escape to the shopping malls, a future version of “valleylist” for sure – - How about escaping to silicon valley beaches ? If it were not St. Patricks Day and all the green people were not in charge it would be easy to continue the search for the perfect place for “a late night” in silicon valley, one of my favorite versions thus far. Surprise of the week is big money in weather.

Yahoo! commands the greatest market share by advertising revenue, followed by Microsoft, AOL, MySpace and the Weather Channel, according to industry estimates” according to s.j. mercury news. Meaning the weather business is a very big number, if you understand the general concept. Hoover’s comes up with 700 employees for a $78.3 annual revenue for this internet and television company. Next version I’ll complete some additional original research on the weather industry and come up with a number for the weather people. The Weather Channels big competitors are AccuWeather.com CNN MSNBC TV .

Additional factors in silicon valley weather are fog, noise pollution and earthquakes and of course beaches. Storms that swing through the silicon valley region are either Alaskan storms that sweep cold air through the area or Hawaiian storms that drop moisture and warm air. Earthquakes are an on going concern. The most reliable source of information is the US Geological Survey National Earthquake Information with lots of information about recent quakes. The biggie was the loma prieta october 17, 2007 5:04 epicenter in the Santa Cruz mountains. As far as the real climate it’s very livable, and not ideally suited for year round fun like southern California – - winter coldest January 41″ to 50″- – summer warmest july 55″ to 84″ .

The infamous microclimates that require minute attention from the locals can easily be reduced to a simple version called – - it’s chillier near the water and the inland cities are warmer.

Fog hovers mostly in S.F. Monterey, Half Moon Bay, Pacifica and is created by cold weather exposed to warm moist air drawn in by the very hot temperatures of the central valley. Also a dangerous condition coastal fog at night – - fog particularly evident in ocean towns and neighborhoods in spring summer and  in San Mateo and San Francisco Counties.

BEACHES in silicon valley extend as far away as Santa Cruz County and of course include Santa Cruz, Monterey, Carmel and the most favorite Half Moon Bay. Beach weather is from May to September however the best time is Indian Summer – - late September and October when the Pacific Ocean is warmest and the upwelling of cold water has stopped.

This is a very selective list beaches that I like – -

San Mateo County

 > Half Moon State Beach

 > Pescadero State Beach

 > San Gregorio State Beach

 > Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk

 > Davenport Beach

 > Lighthouse Field State Beach

 > Natural Bridges State Beach

 > Downtown Beaches in Monterey

 > Carmel Beaches worth the drive

 > 17 mile drive with many beaches

SILICON VALLEY CITIES mostly San Mateo and Santa Clara County do not vary much as far as the weather however for highly interested here’s a quick table for your desktop:

CONCLUSTION - – weather in silicon valley is not really worth talking about. Beaches are fun until the fog rolls in and everybody forgets how to drive. Like everything in silicon valley perfection is the norm. Anything unpleasant is attributed to political problems and of course sweater weather.
