A BRIEF HISTORY OF TELEVISION starts with philo t fransworth inventor of television cry [cathode ray tube]. san franciso born and bred. a total visionary conceptualizing a world where everybody watches a black and white or color screen for news and entertainment. regulatory steps in with the 10930’s communications act that “stipulates that commercial television stations operate in the public interest convenience and necessity”. from the actual television itself to the cable box it’s reaching people that matters. final frontier is the long awaited 4th network. thanks rupert murdoch.

“high tech and popular culture
the new “valleylist” branding strategy. pop culture sells.

museum of broadcasting. i actually don’t have a museum of broadcasting story. though i wish i did. every time i go to new york it’s the art museums. admiring architecture. visiting histortoric landmarks. visiting art galleries. best story was a long assignment from art.com magazine and as usual “the next big thing”. ended up at devlin video production studios and actually met sandra devlin owner and founder. “it’s the video disc” was the conclusion and the theme of the next big art.com article. who’s next. visiting times mirror press offices at rockefeller center to take pictures of the latest new “videotex” screens. graphics and and text. still to low res to make the headline. sandra devlin won a few academy awards for best video production and the live broadcast included a get well wish from devlin herself. “valley list” likes those people. next time it should be the museum of broadcasting. they still like me. only they tell me to go away and come back after making more money. a lot more.

regulatory
i own it all.

i own “valleylist”.  i own “high tech with mass appeal”. i own “high tech and pop culture”. i own “technology and politics”.

without regulation television itself would not be possible. conflicting technologies. a desperate need for standards and interoperability. they don’t want a deal. they want their illegal “thing” to continue. no thx. most people like television. it takes a real leader to actually make the new industry a success.
.
conclusion
fight with the fcc and the doj in court or at the office [personal attacks are illegal]. trounce and denouce competitors. actually they are not worth talking to. nobody can believe the new invention actually works. superior technology and communications make for the best in popular culture.

walter chronikite called it “sending pictures through the air”.
